|5/5 Hearts! MUST READ!|
Drew's insecurities pushed him to have a foolish affair six years ago. It destroyed his relationship with Luis, and he's never been able to commit to anyone since. Now, he's taken control of his life and changed his submissive personality by becoming a model for Kevin Marks, and a wildlife enforcement agent in New Orleans.
These men haven't forgotten each other, or settled their differences. When they accidentally meet in a French Quarter gay bar, the years of regret, anger, and pent-up emotions erupt. Their passion is as hot as ever, their mistrust just as potent. When Drew's future is in Luis' hands, will he choose his lifestyle or love?
Featuring Kevin, Teak, and Drew from Hard as Teak.
True love's course rarely runs smooth, and Drew and Luis are no exception. They got off track 6 years ago, when Luis' ego clashed with Drew's insecurities, resulting in Drew's infidelity, and the couple's break-up. 6 years later, finds them in very different places. Drew is confident both as a New Orleans wildlife enforcement agent, and as a model for Kevin. Luis isn't quite sure how to take the new Drew. Both men want a second chance, but the past keeps getting in the way. When Drew's job as a wildlife enforcement agent causes him to cross paths with a vindictive New Orleans gang, Luis is there to pick up the pieces.
This book is the sequel to Hard as Teak, although, its great as a stand-alone. The story is set in between sultry New Orleans and frigid Minnesota. Two very contrasting settings but well executed, especially Minnesota's cold. Its contemporary, but doesn't give a specific year, which I like, because it will keeps the book modern for a longer period of time.
I absolutely loved the main characters, Drew and Luis. Drew was a very sympathetic character, maybe partly because he was making a reappearance from Hard as Teak. Even though you know Drew was in the wrong for cheating on Luis, you feel for him, much more than Luis at times. Luis comes off as a jerk, but he really cares for Drew, and that is obvious from the beginning. As if trying to rekindle a "lost" love wasn't difficult enough, add in some crazy gangbangers, and some meddling friends, and its almost a recipe for disaster or... HEA.
I really connected with the characters, and I just love Margie's writing style. This book definitely tugged the heartstrings. I don't often shed tears over a book but I did this one! This is a book to read again and again. I would definitely recommend it.
